TW Kids Event at The Gregson!

Totally Wired can announce that as part of our Kids' Festival at The Gregson on the 13th June, there will be an art workshop where kids (and adults!) can create their own masks to take home. Expect lots of colour, glitter, and sticky-backed plastic!

Vik Lawless at The Storey

Vik Lawless has been writing poetry for over ten years. Many of the characters who reside in her poems are dark or strange. Vik readily admits that she is pre-occupied with the edges of places and the things and people who end up there. A member of Lancaster's brilliant 6 Poets group, you can read some of Vik's work here.

Ottersgear at The Storey

Over the next few days we're going to individually look at all the acts due to appear at Totally Wired at The Storey on the 6th June. Tickets cost £5 and can be bought in advance from The Book Room and The Storey.

Today, we kick off with the fantastic Ottersgear.

Ottersgear was brought to life in the summer of 2008 in Quernmore, Lancaster, at the tip of the Trough of Bowland by front man Mikey Kenney. The first EP (Rising Balloon) tells the tale of an alcoholic who, in need of rest, walks into the lonely company of the trough and overcomes his struggle with alcohol. Ingrid Christie - Questions, there are only questions ... Ingrid Christie's series of intimate photographs entice the viewer into a situation where they become both voyeur and investigator. The fleeting yet 'indelible' stills suggest a wider narrative that is kept just out of reach.

Confessions at The Storey. Viewers are invited to participate in this interactive art piece.

Florian Kaplick - A performance artist from Germany. His 'Absolutions' performance redeploys Hugo Ball's Dada 'Bishop' which first came to life in 1916 in Zurich's Cabaret Voltaire. The performance will include sound poetry by Hugo Ball, Kurt Schwitters and Ernst Gomringer. Last month Florian presented this piece with great success at The Royal College of Art in London and is delighted to be bringing it to Lancaster.

Totally Wired is pleased to announce that the following acts will be appearing at The Storey on the 6th June.

Ottersgear - The up and coming alt/folk music group led by the wonderful Mikey Kenney.

Vik Lawless - Part of Lancaster's legendary 6 poets group, Vik's poems tell tales of witches, creepy shopkeepers and bi-polar disease.

Improv Xpress - Lancaster's brilliant comedy improvisation group engages their audience with a 'Whose Line is it Anyway?' type format.

Mollie Baxter - A prominent figure in the local creative writing scene and accomplished solo songwriter and performer.

Desna - A bellydance artist whose fresh and engaging performance style is suitable for all the family.

Jo Gillot - Jo's recent EP 'Songs to Say I Sung' was featured on Radio 2's Steve Lamacq show and many people are predicting a bright future for this talented musician.

Bonkers - An energetic short dance performance.

Doors open at 7.30pm, tickets cost only £5 each and are available in advance from The Book Room or The Storey.

All online tickets for I Am Kloot (Solo) have been sold. The only way to get a ticket now is turn up early at the Yorkshire House this evening where we will have a few tickets costing £10 each available on the door.

Just a quick update re: tickets for this evening's gig. There will be a very small number of tickets available on the door costing £10 each. Arrive early if you want to make sure you get one because we're not kidding, there aren't very many left at all!

Totally Wired Kids Festival

Totally Wired will be holding a fun-packed kids festival at The Gregson Centre in Lancaster on Saturday 13th June. Entry will cost £3 whilst Family Tickets (4 people, must include at least one adult) cost £10. You can pay on the door or purchase tickets in advance from The Book Room. This event is specifically designed to be enjoyed by families so we hope to see lots of you there. More information on the activities and acts involved will be posted here soon.

Totally Wired will be holding a mixed-arts night at The Storey on the 6th June 2009. Doors open at 7.30pm and acts will include music, drama, comedy, spoken word, an interactive art exhibition, and much much more. Tickets cost £5 and are available from The Book Room or The Storey.

We're really excited about putting on this event, and believe that we organised a brilliant line-up that is worthy of the fantastic venue. More details to be announced soon!
