Artists appearing at TOTALLY WIRED - 18th March 2010 - Yorkshire House, Lancaster. Doors Open 8.30p.m. £4

Orfeo 5
Orfeo 5 are Shaun Blezard (electronics) and Keith Jafrate (saxophones). They use improvisation to find structure & vice versa, in music that is romantic, narrative & mysterious all at once. Playing long pieces which evolve over time to create a sense of place & landscape, but which also incorporate strongly rhythmic passages. Their style takes in influences from Jon Hassell, Evan Parker & Nils Pieter Molvaer, among others, and is a hybrid of Improv, jazz, folk, dub, sound art & electronica.
They released their first CD " A Year on the Ice" in 2009.

Ann Wilson
Ann's exuberance & engaging presence blurs the edges of her poems. Their beat rhythms come & go, adding emphasis when required to her emotional asides... "The Lunecy Review". Check out www.myspace.com/annthepoet2

Making their live debut, expect to hear some gobsmacking voicescaping magic with Songbird Beth Allen, Poet Sarah Hymas and Improv Diva Steve Lewis.

Joanne Levey

ORPHANS
Orphans are musical magpies, collecting shiny nuggets of sound, instantly satisfying riffs, hooks & antique distressed song structures, unique but immediate. Their lyrics are brimming with angry humour & dissatisfaction, struggling to find hope in the empty corners of modernity. The components are lovingly assembled & the resulting readymades are offered to your ears & knees. Fast, drums, guitars, sax & voices, surf, ska, punk & rock!!
